Exactly! Pain really is in your head as the pain you experience peripherally travels up your spinal cord to your brain where it is sensed. The perception of pain is shaped by brain circuits which are constantly filtering sensory information.
With this in mind, we formulated Pain Punch to treat the pain both at the source and in the brain by dampening down the perception of that pain thereby reducing its intensity.
Omega 6: Omega 3 ratio balance
DHA acts centrally and is important in the development and maintenance of normal brain function in adults. It is also a key neuroprotectant after injury and it has anti-inflammatory properties and it thought to help with mood disorders.
EPA works peripherally to help reduce inflammation by inhibiting the similar pathways that traditional anti-inflammatory pharmaceuticals, NSAIDs (Naproxen, Ibuprofen) work on. Thereby, making it a potent anti-inflammatory agent without the same side effects of pharmaceuticals.
The key parameter to controlling inflammation in the body is the omega-6 to omega-3 ratio as omega-6 are thought to be pro-inflammatory and omega-3, anti-inflammatory. Unfortunately, the Western diet is abundant in omega 6 and deficient in omega-3 with an omega-6 to omega-3 ratio of 10:1 and sometimes 30:1, whereas the optimal ratio to reduce inflammation is 4:1. Therefore, it is important to increase your long chain omega 3 fatty acids to help rebalance the ratio and reduce inflammation. Pain Punch helps reset the ratio to a healthy balance.
The Spice of Life
Turmeric is a spice commonly used in Southeast Asia for over 4000 years and it has well known health benefits and strong anti-inflammatory effects. The main hurdle to Turmeric and its active component, curcumin, is that it is not easily absorbed from the gut.
To overcome this, we use a highly bioavailable Turmeric which is absorbed and provides high levels of bioactive compounds. These compounds are now available to travel to the source of inflammation and effectively reduce inflammation.
